Happy spring Hotel Vermonters! To most in the Northeast, spring symbolizes new life and a rejuvenation of the landscape as browns and grays turn to greens, yellows, pinks, whites, and the earth becomes alive. For us here at Hotel Vermont, the longer days and warmer weather means we are swapping out the snowshoes for bicycles.
New last year, we upgraded our bike fleet to custom Budnitz Bicycles. Keeping with Budnitz Bicycles’ mission of creating the lightest, fastest, most elegant city bicycles in the world, each bike was custom built for Hotel Vermont right at Budnitz Bicycles headquarters on Pine Street according to the company’s exacting standards for beauty, speed and comfort.
Serial entrepreneur Paul Budnitz dreamed up Budnitz Bicycles to satisfy his personal desire for a beautiful, high-end city bicycle that he could use in the Big Apple. Launched in 2011, the company hand builds each made-to-order bicycle with grease-free carbon belt drives, high-tech internally geared hubs. Frame color, components and accessories are all customized according to client desires and riding styles.
Hotel Vermont is one of just a handful of hotels to partner with Budnitz Bicycles. Handcrafted in Burlington, each of our six steel bicycles is decked out with the hotel’s logo, custom colors, and design and can only be found on property. Hotel Vermont’s fleet can we seen around town in accents of orange, blue and green.
Recently renovated and repaved, we recommend a pedal the Burlington Bike Path, which runs eight miles from Oakledge Park to the Winooski River and through major parks and facilities along the waterfront of Lake Champlain. Another favorite is to zip over to the Saturday morning Burlington Farmer’s Market. Test your stamina on the way to South End Arts District or quench your thirst with our Pine Street Bike & Brew Tour. Head to Church Street Marketplace. Or order a picnic lunch to go from Juniper and enjoy it along the shores of the lake or in the quad of University of Vermont’s campus. With so many options, Burlington is truly a bikers dream!
The snow gods have been much more generous to us in Vermont this winter than in recent years, and while we have had a few warm days, there is still some winter left here and we are living it to the fullest.
We put our heads together with a few of our friends around town to cook up the ultimate Vermont Winter Experience Getaway. In partnership with the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, we are excited to offer a two-night complimentary stay here at Hotel Vermont, dinner for two at Hen of the Wood – Burlington, and lift tickets to Stowe Mountain Resort!
The giveaway closes March 6th, so enter as soon as you can! ENTER HERE.
Meet Juniper Bar & Restaurant Sous Chef Meme Daniell. The back of the house staff often do not find themselves in the spotlight but since the beginning, Meme has been an essential member of our food and beverage program. We are so proud to have her as part of the Hotel Vermont team!
If you are interested about joining the Juniper team or learning more about our food and beverage program please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are excited to announce that Juniper is now open for brunch every day from 7 am – 2 pm. If you are breakfast or lunch purist, never fear we have expanded the breakfast menu and added a few lunch options so there is something for everyone. On weekends you can create your own brunch cocktail at our bloody Mary and mimosa bar. Reservations for brunch are available for parties of six or more.
For this holiday season, we are excited to announce that we have partnered with Runamok Maple to place complimentary 2oz bottles of syrup in all of our guest bedrooms.
Runamok Maple launched this summer and is a line of organic barrel-aged, infused and smoked maple syrups. Runamok produces all their syrup in Cambridge, Vermont. Designed to get people thinking about and using maple syrup differently, the syrups are equally as good for breakfast as they are as icings/glazes or in cocktails. You can try their different flavor syrups now through the end of the year during breakfast at Juniper or in some of our cocktails at the bar.
Runamok Maple has been picked by Oprah, Food and Wine, Cooking Light and Real Simple for their 2016 gift guides.
We are very excited to introduce one of our new Summer packages: Meet the Cows Tour package! Led by our friends at Bonafide Tours, this guided farm experience features a grass fed organic dairy farm with a Guernsey cow herd located on a picturesque hillside farm near Johnson Vermont.
Open to all ages, this is an up close and personal tour that includes walking among the cows during milking, bottle feeding and/or petting calves when available.
After visiting with the cows, stop at an elegant tea room featuring hand-made sweet and savory treats made with local ingredients and located within a carefully handcrafted post and beam barn.
Optionally (and open to customization for families) the tour also includes wine tasting at the award winning Boyden Valley Winery, allowing you to take in the incredible views of the stunning Mount Mansfield region, riverside landscapes, and a quaint covered bridge along the tour route.
This is a two-night minimum stay package. For Wednesday-Friday or Thursday-Saturday stays. Tours are led Thursday or Friday and include breakfast at Juniper each morning and the four-hour tour that departs at 1pm and returns at 6pm. More information and booking available here.
