We cannot believe that Labor Day has come and gone and it’s already September. Here in Burlington we are winding down the summer and gearing up for fall with lots of great events.
This weekend is the 21st Annual South End Art Hop, a three-day event that is the product of a culmination of Vermont artists, artisans, musicians, comedians, vendors and local businesses. With galleries and events throughout Burlington, although focused mainly in the South End Pine Street area, the Art Hop is a fun and creative way to see the city and some of its most creative works and inhabitants.
In honor of this great event, we are running an Art Hound Special for guests who are interested in attending some or all of the Art Hop this weekend. We are offering a competitive rate including breakfast for fellow art enthusiasts. Give us a call at 855-650-0080 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Some of our own staff will be showing their art this weekend, including our fabulous bartender Jackie Bishop and the one and only Courtyard Marriott bellman Isaac Wasuck. We are also sponsoring a 3D projection mapping project by Craig Winslow II, titled Growth, that can be found this weekend at the JDK Gallery on 47 Maple Street.
The full event listing can be found here. Many of the events are just a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk from Hotel Vermont, check out the event map:
We have been getting a ton of calls lately inquiring about Hen of the Wood Burlington, so we thought we would do a Hen Burlington FAQ.
1) When will Hen of the Wood be open?
Anticipated Opening: Last week of September/first week of October. Subject to change.
2) Is Hen of the Wood part of Hotel Vermont?
While we have partnered with Hen of the Wood on location, they are a separate entity from Hotel Vermont. Additionally, Hen of the Wood and Hotel Vermont are not physically connected, meaning that you have to enter Hen through the entrance on Cherry Street. Our restaurant, Juniper, is located in the hotel and is currently open for breakfast, dinner and late night drinks.
3) Is Hen serving breakfast/brunch?
Right now they will just be serving dinner and drinks, opening at 5pm daily.
Hen is not currently taking reservations for the Burlington location. If you would like to make a reservation for their Waterbury location, you can contact them directly at 802-244-7300.
5) Will hotel guests get priority reservations?
Unfortunately at this time we can’t promise priority reservations to any guests.
Thanks to the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce for this video! Great work, we love it!
AO Glass Works is one of the many Vermont companies that have partnered with us to make up the stuff that is Hotel Vermont. A great mom & pop glass blowing studio on Pine Street, AO Glass is responsible for making our beautiful soap dishes. Each dish is blown and hand spun right here in Burlington. You can buy the dishes at Hotel Vermont, or you can visit AO Glass at 416 Pine Street in Burlington.
If you’re curious about glass blowing, they also offer classes. Studio classes are offered year-round, for all skill levels and are taught by their local and international glass making artists and instructors. They are incredible passionate and knowledgeable about the art of glass making and have a very cool space to check out and watch or try it yourself.
AO Glass has created a special glass blowing package exclusively for Hotel Vermont guests. Short classes are usually 20-40 minutes, while a longer more-in depth session 2 hour session is available as well. If you want to learn more about AO Glass, you can call them directly at 802.540.0223 or shoot them over an email at email@example.com.
Hope that you didn’t miss us on the 6pm news. If you did, you are in luck for a sneak peek inside our Hotel. Enjoy!
Counting down the days until Juniper opens May 16!
