Benefit Dinner for Vermont Land Trust

     Next Saturday, July 30th, we are loading up the van and hitting the road to cook at a benefit dinner at Thornhill Farm in Greensboro for the Vermont Land Trust. Championed by Todd Hardie (pictured above), the steward of the land at Thornhill and the organizer of the event, the dinner aims to educate about – and fundraise for- the Land Trust’s mission in a beautiful once-in-a-lifetime setting. Todd is also the founder of Caledonia Spirits, a world renowned bee keeper, and a farmer at Thornhill Farm which grows elderberries, winter rye, barley, pigs and honey bees.
     The Vermont Land Trust is a non- profit land conservation organization and since 1977, they have permanently conserved more than 1,900 parcels of land covering more than 550,000 acres, or about nine percent of the private, undeveloped land in the state. This conserved land includes more than 900 working farms and farmland parcels, hundreds of thousands of acres of productive forestland, and numerous parcels of community land.
     Attendees at the benefit dinner will enjoy food and beverages from VLT-conserved farms such as Pete’s Greens, Jasper Hill Farm, Hill Farmstead Brewery (nearby and open ’til 5:00), Bonnieview Farm, Fable Farm, Ploughgate Creamery, Maple Wind Farm, Jericho Settlers Farm, Templeton Farm, and Sweet Rowan Farmstead. As well as support from friends of the Vermont Land Trust, Red Hen Bakery, Fat Toad Farm, and Vermont Cranberry Company.
     Appetizers and cocktails will start at 5:30 pm with dinner beginning at 6pm. Tickets for this benefit dinner are $140. Proceeds will support the Vermont Land Trust.
