The second weekend in September marks Burlington’s 24th Annual Art Hop! Produced by the South End Arts Business Association, Art Hop is a two-day festival on Pine Street in the South End that celebrate’s our artists, makers and craftspeople. Studio owners open their doors to the public; many of the artists choose to show their own pieces, while others create a curated gallery of pieces by other local artists. Businesses as well get in the spirit with installations small and large, galleries or staff art shows. Art Hop-goers are encouraged to visit as many sites as possible over the two-day period. Throughout the weekend, different organizations hold arts-related events, from fashion shows to sidewalk painting. Visit the full site schedule here.
This year, in a celebration of Art Hop, we are excited to announce that we have partnered with Stowe-based artist, Seb Sweatman. Seb’s abstract paintings will be on display in the lobby starting in September and remaining throughout the fall.
Seb was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. At 10 his family moved to England, then Canada and finally to the US. Seb studied Fine Art at the University of Vermont (as a minor) and paints abstract and figurative paintings, in an expressionist (or self-described ‘messy’) manner.
Stay tuned for more information about the installation and we hope to see you for Art Hop!
