One of our favorite activities, and one definitely not to miss during the summer, is a sail on the lake. Surrounded by the Adirondack and Green Mountains, getting out on the lake gives you a 360-degree view of the stunning landscape and a lesser-seen perspective of Burlington from the lake. Our friend Captain Gideon of Let’s Go Sailing, gives you a first-hand experience sailing on Lake Champlain. A knowledgeable and interesting character, Captain Gideon is available for morning, afternoon and evening two-hour sails (weather dependent) around Burlington Bay, Juniper Island and across the lake. We recommend packing a picnic (or stop by Burlington Bay Cafe or City Market for sandwiches) and setting out for a sunset sail on the Hinter 29.5. Captain Gideon will let you try your hand at steering the ship or just sit back and relax. Gideon’s laid-back style is perfect for families, couples or friends.
The boat holds up to six guests, and is $40 per person. For hotel guests we are happy to arrange a sail with Gideon; for outside parties we recommend contacting him directly.
