Grab your hand warmers and join us Friday, February 6th & Saturday, February 7th from 6:30pm – 9:30 pm for Burlington’s premier outdoor winter party! But what is this shindig all about, you ask. Let us set the scene…
The Hotel Vermont Ice Bar event features ice sculpture displays, local food, ice luges, live music, and Vermont artisanal beverages to taste. Local companies, partners, brewers and distillers sponsor all of our ice sculptures, from logos in ice, to interactive ice pieces, to the five ice bars and ice luges.
Our ice sculptor, Jeff Day, out of New Hampshire, comes to the hotel the day before the event to carve out all of the ice with his team. The three men work day and night to get everything completed for the event and their talent really shows in their designs. The ice is then beautiful lit with theatrical lighting and Gobo’s, making our back courtyard something of a winter wonderland. In case you need to warm up, duck into our large tent our back filled with delicious food from Juniper and Bleu Northeast Seafood with a DJ spinning beats.
A local tasting room in the Courtyard Burlington Harbor is available to taste of the best Vermont has to offer, from craft liquor to small-batched roasted nuts. Local producers and distillers will have samples available to guests. The tasting room boasts over 20 Vermont-made companies.
We also add an element of surprise to the event. In 2013 we had a flash mob appear out of nowhere in the Courtyard in the middle of the event. In 2014, we had a fire eater demonstrate his skills for all to see! For this year, who knows! Maybe an aerialist, or a light show or a surprise celebrity? It is a surprise!
After the event we keep the party going with live bands in Juniper. Starting at 9:30pm on Friday, Waylon Speed will be rocking the house and on Saturday we will be treated to the surf-rock tunes of the High Breaks.
Each year the Ice Bar supports a cause. Our first event in 2012 supported the Vermont Farm Disaster Relief Fund due to the harm that Hurricane Irene caused to the local farms. In 2013 we supported the WARMTH program and for 2014 and this upcoming event we will support the Special Olympics Vermont. $1 of each ticket will be donated to the cause. Last year the Penguin Plunge mascot stoppby for a visit and we also a fun interactive penguin ice carvings to show our support as well!
This annual event is held in conjunction with the Burlington Winter Festival and the Penguin Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics. And of course, this event would not be possible without our amazing sponsors: NBT Bank, MyWebGrocer, Dealer.com, Vermont Spirits, Long Trail, Farrell Distributing and Citizen Cider!
