David Budbill

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Vermont Northeast Kingdom poet David Budbill this week! David read from his new book, A Happy Life, Β and answered some of burning questions. For those of you who missed the reading, here is one of his poems, Tomorrow:

“Tomorrow

we are

bones and ash,

the roots of weeds

poking through

our skulls.

Today,

simple clothes,

empty mind,

full stomach,

alive, aware,

right here,

right now.

Drunk on music,

who needs wine?

Come on,

Sweetheart,

let’s go dancing

while we still

got feet.

Stay tuned for more Vermont poets and authors. We have partnered with Burlington Writer’s Workshop to bring interesting Vermont writers to the Burlington community and our guests.
