Hotel Vermont Guest Blogger Miss Magpie Takes Vermont by Storm

Friend of Hotel Vermont, Miss Magpie, has been nice enough to do some guest blogging for us!

Miss Magpie of FindandGoSeek, is the person to talk to about anything and everything family friendly in Vermont. She is a wealth of knowledge from swimming holes to kid’s gymnastic classes. She will be doing guest posts for us every so often – here is what she has to say about June in Vermont:

We love Vermont 365 days a year, but find ourselves slightly partial to our home state during the warmer months. There is an over abundance of family friendly things to do. So much so, that we often find that we have to pick and choose, and don’t get to everything. Much like a traveler might feel if they were only here for a short visit. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorites and hope that you will try them while you are in town:

A visit to a creemee stand is a summertime must in Vermont! Not a native? Translation = soft-serve ice cream. In Burlington, try the famous Beansie’s Bus while the kids play at Battery Park or you catch one of our famous sunsets over Lake Champlain.

We can’t get enough of Shelburne Museum. Not only is it one of our favorite outdoor museums, but it is also steeped rich in Vermont’s History. Kid’s love to climb aboard the 220 ft steamboat parked right in the middle of the lawn or take a ride on their vintage carousel. Plus if you are visiting on Tuesday morning you can join them for a special weekly story time in the Owl Cottage.

Nothing tastes sweeter than a fresh picked strawberry right from the field. Starting in mid-June you can take the family to pick a few pints. We even have a festival dedicated to these red, ripe, juicy fruits on June 22nd.

“Farm-to-table” takes on a whole new meaning when you are actually eating at a table, in the grass, on the farm. Every Friday night (weather permitting) Bread and Butter Farm hosts Burger Nite. There is live music, kids running around, folks enjoying the gardens and you will get a real sense of what the Vermont community is all about. Check it out if you have a chance.
